KS7: EVA

The work shows the contemporary postmodern world, where people are surrounded by void of lies, phantasms and simulacra. Philosopher Jean Baudrillard uses the term hyperreality to describe reality, calling it just a simulation of the real world. It is the environment where soul is desperate to survive, trying to find truth and stability. The thin strip of light in the work symbolizes this truth and people reach out towards it in order to survive. Black sun, the symbol of hyperreality, introduced by Jean Baudrillard is shown in this work. The black sun is the simulation of the real one, It shines, showing people the distorted and untrue picture of reality. This light that comes from the black sun is cold and dangerous. Those who follow it, only move further from the truth, unable to find the source of happiness and warmth in their hollow life.
