ON THE VERGE Project
soon in Kunst Schimmer #2 – Ulm (March 22-30)
ON THE VERGE is a project born in Spain that tries to bring its artists work, regardless of their style to the audience. It started last January when some artists thought of applying to Kunst Schimmer #2.
They have in common that they live all in a country with a pathetic art support from the goverment and other insitutions (due to today's political, social and economic climate). There are plenty of good artworks, many talented artists, exhibitions and events, most of them independent, but unfortunately there is not much support for the artist.
Albert Einstein said: “There is a driving force more powerful than steam, electricity and atomic energy: the will”. Will to work is what they have, it is also said that bad times sharpens the inventiveness and sometimes the results are amazing.

Das Projekt ON THE VERGE wurde im Januar 2014 in Spanien geboren, als einige Spanische Künstler den Aufruf zur Teilnahme für die Ulmer Messe erhielten und sich daraufhin überlegten bei “Kunst Schimmer #2” mit zu machen. Die Idee dahinter war, unabhängig von der jeweiligen Kunstrichtung, als Gruppe das Ulmer Publikum zu erreichen.
Sie alle haben gemeinsam, dass sie aus einem Land kommen, in dem die Unterstützung der Kunst durch den Staat und andere Institutionen erbärmlich ist (Zurückzuführen ist das auf das aktuelle politische, soziale und ökonomische Klima in Spanien, das sich in den letzten Jahren stark zu seinem Nachteil verändert hat.). Es gibt dort eine Vielzahl großartiger Kunstwerke, zahllose talentierte Künstler, haufenweise große und kleine ausgezeichnete Ausstellungen und Veranstaltungen, die sich vornehmlich auf eigene Faust über Wasser halten müssen, da jegliche Unterstützung fehlt.
Albert Einstein sagte über den menschlichen Willen: "Es ist eine treibende Kraft stärker als Dampf, Strom und Atomgemeinschaft." Und den Willen künstlerisch zu arbeiten, ist es was diese Spanier besitzen. Es ist auch gesagt worden, dass ungute Zeiten die Kreativität stärken – manchmal mit erstaunlichen Resultaten.
Man darf also gespannt sein was ON THE VERGE uns mitbringt. Auf ihrer Facebook Seite wird es möglich sein, ihre Reise nach Deutschland zu verfolgen, die sie aus allen Teilen Spaniens antreten werden. Auch ihre Erlebnisse beim “Kunst Schimmer #2” wird man dort nachlesen können.
